LFM is a powerful 3D laser scanning software package, which is relevant throughout the laser data and asset lifecycle. LFM is hardware and software vendor neutral. It accepts data from all 3D laser scanners and exports to 3D integrated plant design systems CAD and Review platforms.
LFM was one of the first 3D laser scanning software packages to be launched. Since 1998 it has been engaged in a cycle of continuous development which means it is now one of the most innovative and efficient 3D laser scanning packages available. LFM customers are loyal and longstanding owing to the powerful solution that meets their needs and the exceptional level of support which they receive.
We count world renowned organisations in our LFM 3D laser scanning customer base. These include, amongst others, Owner / Operators such as BP, Shell, British Energy, BASF, Total and Saudi Aramco and EPC's including AMEC, Jacobs Engineering and Fluor.
LFM 3D laser scanning software provides a complete solution from registration of laser scan data to as-built modelling. It provides tools for brownfield projects and assists Owner / Operators with their asset management strategies. Service providers use LFM on a daily basis to process and deliver their projects. The time, cost savings and quality improvements afforded by LFM surpass those traditionally associated with 3D laser scanning
LFM 3D laser scanning software is 'hardware neutral' and accepts data from numerous 3D laser scanners. LFM is also CAD vendor neutral. We maintain close relationships with all of the leading CAD vendors, allowing the customer to benefit from a seamless interface between LFM and any number of CAD products.

Why Laser Scanning?
3D laser scanners allow the user to capture in the region of one million points a second. By utilising this powerful technology, the user is able to spend less time on site capturing as-built information, dramatically reducing project timescales and costs. Project timescales can also be reduced from the design and construction phases by up to 80% and 20% respectively. Overall schedule compressions of 10% have been reported.
By providing the designer with a detailed “as-built” knowledge of the plant, 3D laser scanning mitigates project risks and reduces design-rework thereby also reducing costs. Laser scanning has reduced total installed cost for brownfield projects by 5-7% and has reduced contingencies for rework to less than 2% compared to traditional survey methods.
Outside the EPC environment, Owner / Operators are now also recognising the benefits of laser scanning as an integral part of their asset management strategy. Laser scan data and models derived from it form a key element of the strategy to manage plant throughout its life cycle.
However, the benefits of 3D Laser scanning can only be fully realised by using the best in 3D Laser scanning software.
The features of LFM allow the user to experience the time, cost savings and quality improvements permitted by 3D laser scanning and to enhance these to previously unachievable levels.
