Review of SPAR Europe and the LFM User Meeting
Date added: 30th Nov 2011
The second annual SPAR Europe - the leading conference on 3D Imaging and Data Management - closed its doors on Wednesday, 9th November. Held in Den Haag, The Netherlands, this conference attracted hundreds of visitors from various industries and locations. AVEVA, along with the newly acquired LFM Software division of Z+F UK, took this opportunity to promote the enhanced AVEVA's design automation solutions with the addition of LFM’s point cloud data processing software. Visitors were particularly amazed by AVEVA Laser Modeller - which was recently developed ‘hand in hand’ with the LFM software team in Manchester, UK – this help users create intelligent models from point cloud data. The live demonstrations of the software attracted visitors to the stand like bees to honey.
A LFM User Group meeting was also organised on Thursday 10th November to collect feedback and suggestions for development. Bruce Douglas, Senior VP Strategy & Marketing of AVEVA, gave a presentation on the acquisition of LFM by AVEVA and said: "The acquisition of LFM was easy, as the LFM team share the same values as the AVEVA Group”. He also said that the reason AVEVA bought LFM is because “we really believe it is the best 3D laser scanning software on the market”. Graham Dalton, VP, 3D Capture AVEVAalso demonstrated some of the new features that will be introduced in the next version of LFM Server, and said that “product development is shaped by the way LFM is being used by our customers and what they expect from laser scanning”.
Overall, the week in The Netherlands was a great success for the team and we hope that next year’s event will be as successful.
About the development :
- "The neutrality is a very critical point. We will still develop CAD interfaces for other CAD vendors, not only for AVEVA PDMS." - Graham Dalton, Head of Product, 3D Data Capture - AVEVA
About the acquisition :
- "Our philosophy on openness will not be affected, we will continue to produce great software for all users : we are determined to keep up the development effort and fully committed to support our customers" - Joce Boissin, Marketing Specialist, AVEVA
